Avoid Windows Update Restarting Automatically

Tired of Windows Update installing updates when you are working ?

If you like me don’t like windows to control when you should restart your computer ? here is a short guide to avoid the automatic restart.

Windows update settings

Start by entering the start menu by pressing start button or Windows Key.

Windows update settings

Start typing “Windows Update” and press Windows Update.
Windows Update window will open, should look like below, if not you pressed the wrong search result.

Windows update settings

Press “Change settings”

Windows update settings

Now select the preferences you prefer.

I will suggest selecting the “Download update but let me choose whether to install them”

But remember that if you choose one of these setting other that “install updates automatically” you will have to check often as nothing will be done if you ignore it. It’s always a good idea to install the latest update for your Windows to prevent any security compromises.
