Making a Concrete Table.
Homemade Concrete table.
I was looking for a new coffee table for my living room, because the old one was well used, but i could find one i like, or could afford.
So what to do ? Well i decided to build my own and it went quite well i think 🙂
I wanted something with a rustic look, so went for casting my own concrete tabletop, with an iron frame and aged wood at the bottom, and some wheels so it could be moved around easily.
Finished table.
After a lot of research on how to make the Table, i started to build a simple table that could vibrate the concrete to minimize the air bobbles in the surface of the table, by using and old motor, a tire, and a wooden sheet.
see the above video how i did it.
I then started to build the mold for the table top, unfortunately the camera was out of juice when i was making it, so it is not in the video.
As you can see in the video the simple vibrating table worked quite well, and the surface had no air bobbles in it.
My dad welded the frame for me, i gave it a matte clear coat, and drilled the holes for mounting the concrete top.
the bottom was made from some old scrap wood, and i gave the concrete top a coating of some Beeswax to make it stain resistance, and the wood also got some beeswax it gives it a more rustic look.
Please leave a comment on what you think or what i could have done differently.
